For National Geographic
At the heart of the Coral Triangle—in an area of the ocean cradled by the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia—the Celebes Sea boasts the highest biodiversity of marine species on earth. National Geographic photographer and explorer Emory Kristof leads a team of scientists to attempt the first-ever descent into its depths.
Expedition footage by Nick Calayionis, and supporting cinematography by Adam, was supplemented with stock imagery by both Adam and David Hannan. Adam produced, wrote, and co-edited the film with Editor Anne Goetz. Into the Abyss was a 2009 finalist at the Blue Ocean Film Festival. Selected to join Blue On Tour, the film has been exhibited across China.
